Natitingou and Atacora a region to discover!


Tanéka Villages

A day around Natitingou


If you do not have much time, after or before your safari, you can in one day discover the mountain range of Atacora, in particular the waterfall of the village of #Tanongou, the traditions and the activities of the Somba people through a circuit of one hundred and fifty kilometers to visit the traditional habitat of #TataSomba, with their fetishes. An immersion in the life of the Otamari people in Boukoumbé

The excursion takes place over two days, one night in Boukoumbé. You will be accommodated in a tourist tata and you will have the opportunity to discover the daily life of the villagers through their activities accompanied by a guide from Boukoumbé.

During these two days you will have the opportunity to taste the local cuisine in the shade of the mango trees of the tata somba, in particular the white or red fonio paste with poultry meat the fonio couscous with poultry meat or cheese and guinea fowl egg, bush meats and for dessert seasonal fruits, shea, black fruit, mangoes, red fruit, néré, papaya, wild grape, and enjoy an African breakfast based on fonio porridge with honey or sugar milk, baobab flour with honey or sugar milk.

Ancestral traditions in the villages of Tanéka

Between Djougou and Natitingou, make a stop in the Tanéka mountains and discover Tanéka spirituality and royalty over one or two days. You will be accommodated in bungalows in the heart of the villages built according to the local architecture

The local guide will introduce you to the spiritual, cultural, religious and architectural richness of the inhabitants of #TanékaBéri in particular the spirit hut, the audience places specific to each high dignitary, the vaults, the cemetery of the kings of the Satchéka district, the enthronement hut, the sacred baobab of Tanéka Béri, the architecture of the rotunda huts built from local materials, the different kinds of dignitaries.


You will be able to hike through the mountains and valleys and appreciate the fauna, the landscape and the Atacora mountain range to see the three large villages tanéka, Tanéka Béri, Tanéka Yaka and Tanéka Koko.

In Djougou and the surrounding area, the guide will present the history of the YAOU dynasties, King KPÉTONI, and the history of the founding of the kingdom of Djougou, the three cemeteries of the kingdom, the queen mother, the future queens, and the links between the Tanéka kingdom and Djougou as part of a horseback ride.
